The European Commission organises the Conference “Telling the Story – Communicating European Structural and Investment Funds 2014-2020” in Brussels on 9-10 December 2013.
The “Telling the Story” Conference will be a unique gathering of communication professionals from the European, national and regional levels.
It will bring together, for the first time, communication officers responsible for the EU’s five Structural and Investment Funds (European Regional Development Fund, European Social Fund, Cohesion Fund, European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, European Maritime and Fisheries Fund). Together, these funds represent more than a third of the EU’s total budget and a key component of the EU’s efforts to promote growth and jobs.
In addition to communication officers from national and regional authorities, participants will include heads of Managing Authorities, journalists, representatives of stakeholder organisations, EU networks such as Europe Direct, communication officers working for the European Commission in Brussels and in the Commission’s Representations, and representatives of other EU institutions.
More than 650 participants from all 28 EU countries are expected to attend the event, which aims to:
- boost collaboration between EU, national and regional officials involved in communicating about European Structural and Investment Funds;
- provide a sound basis for the communication strategies that will accompany ESIF programmes during the 2014-2020 funding period;
- share good practices in communication and facilitate mutual learning between different countries and funds.
