European Commissioner Lászlo Andor will participate in the launch of new ESF network on Structural Funds and Roma Inclusion, based on EURoma’s experience and promoted by Spain’s ESF MA and the FSG|
The fundamental objective of this new network is to incorporate the experience and lessons learned of the EURoma network into the planning process of the next programming period of Structural Funds (2014-2020).
The fundamental objective of this new network is to incorporate the experience and lessons learned of the EURoma network into the planning process of the next programming period of Structural Funds (2014-2020).
The novel dimension of this initiative, which will function in parallel to and complement the EURoma network, is its inclusion of policy-makers. The members of this network, managed by the Spanish European Social Fund (ESF) Managing Authority, include the Heads of the ESF Managing Authorities and the National Roma Contact Points for the implementation of National Roma Integration Strategies (NRIS) of seven other member states along with Spain (Bulgaria, Slovakia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic and Romania).
The ESF Roma Inclusion Network will work on a transnational mutual exchange basis among members to produce analyses of the strengths and weaknesses of the planning process of Operational Programmes in the current programming period (2007-2013), with a view to incorporating the lessons learned into general and country-level proposals and recommendations for the 2014-2020 planning process.
The network will have a duration of two years (2013-2014) and is co-financed by the European Commission and the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security. The FSG acts as Technical Secretariat, in charge of organising and moderating meetings and of communicating its results.
The objective of the launch meeting is to take stock of the current programming period and identify opportunities to align member states’ Partnership Contracts and Operational Programmes with the measures and objectives foreseen in their respective NRIS in the next programming period.
